Negotiate Without Giving It All Away
Ridhwik
Negotiation starts when both sides want a deal and are arguing about terms. This goal covers preparing your walk-away in writing, finding what the customer needs behind a price demand, trading concessions rather than conceding them, and handling the demand that arrives at signature. It also covers the two things that are not negotiations: "what's your best price" in the first ten minutes, and the formal best and final offer with nobody to talk to.

Your learning path
Skills you will learn
Establishing Walk-Away Limits and Tradeable Terms
The learner will prepare a written plan containing their target, realistic settlement, and non-negotiable floor before entering a negotiation. At the end of this session, they will be able to categorize contract terms into tradeable concessions and legal-only boundaries, and align internally on their walk-away threshold.
Diagnosing the Drivers Behind Price Demands
The learner will dissect a customer's rigid price objection to find the underlying budget threshold or approval roadblock. At the end of this session, they will know how to ask diagnostic questions that pivot the discussion from a flat discount to a solvable structural problem.
Trading Concessions to Protect Agreement Margin
The learner will execute conditional trades rather than giving away free discounts during a negotiation. At the end of this session, they will be able to structure their proposals so every concession is paired with an equivalent return, and safely wind down concessions using progressively smaller movements.
Resolving Customer Affordability Constraints Directly
The learner will address situations where a buyer genuinely cannot afford the product, separating actual financial limits from negotiating positions. At the end of this session, they will be able to reduce scope or walk away clean rather than eroding margins or locking customers into unsustainable payment terms.
Defending Terms Against Signature Demands
The learner will protect their negotiated agreements from late, last-minute concession demands right before signature. At the end of this session, they will know how to pause, re-link the price to its original terms, and direct legal-only redlines to the appropriate decision-makers instead of conceding to save the deal.
Submitting the Best and Final Offer
The learner will handle formal, non-negotiable procurement bids where no live conversation is possible. At the end of this session, they will be able to calculate a single strategic movement against their written walk-away, state their terms explicitly in the submission, and maintain their position when pushed for a secondary discount.
